A visit from Al Carns MP

We were delighted to welcome our local MP, Al Carns, when he braved January’s snow and ice to visit the Hub and learn more about our work with the community.

As well as meeting staff, trustees and volunteers, Al showed great interest in two new projects – ‘Message in a Bottle’ and ‘Recycle for Sight’ – run in partnership with Lions Club International.

A helping hand from Mondelez

Our friends at Mondelez came in to volunteer at our Uniform Swap Shop in February. Daniela and the team joined us from the Research and Development Team at the Bournville Site and sorted, sized and folded around half a ton of donated uniforms.

This essential work helps the School Uniform Swap Shop to tackle both environmental sustainability and financial hardship. Each week, we process 60kg of donated school uniforms, which are washed, sorted, and redistributed free of charge to families across the local community.

As part of the Hub’s commitment to Life Long Learning, we are starting the Literacy Trust’s National Year of Reading with our Children's Book Swaps at the Hub on the Green. Families are welcome to bring along any used books and swap, there is no obligation to swap, but you most definitely must take a book home to enjoy!

A new Hub Book-Swap date to be announced soon!
